Devon and Cornwall Care Records

Health and social care services in Devon and Cornwall have developed a system to share patient data efficiently and quickly and, ultimately, improve the care we provide.

This shared system is called the Devon and Cornwall Care Record (DCCR).

It’s important that JAN Ltd has access to all our service users shared record, so we have all the information they need to provide excellent care.  This applies to your routine appointments and also in urgent situations such as going to A&E, calling 111 or going to an out-of-hours appointment.

It’s also quicker for staff to access a shared record than to try to contact other staff by phone or email.

Only authorised health and care staff can access the Devon and Cornwall Care Record and the information they see is carefully checked so that it relates to their job. Also, systems do not share all data – just data that services have agreed is necessary to include.

For more information about the Devon and Cornwall Care Record, please go to https://www.devonandcornwallcarerecord.nhs.uk/.

CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve. They monitor, inspect and regulate services and publish what they find.

Plymouth Healthwatch Visit – Report Now Available

We recently welcomed Plymouth Healthwatch to our service as part of their ongoing community engagement work. Their visit provided valuable insight into our environment, the support we offer, and the experiences of the people who use our services.

Laburnum Lodge, Clearview and Inglenook House

Summarised Key Findings

  • The homes appeared to be warm and welcoming, with residents appearing generally happy and content.

  • Regular events inside and outside the home are facilitated for the residents to participate in, including holidays.

  • All residents have an individual care plan, which the residents contribute to its formation, as are relatives if in regular contact.

  • Residents and family members we spoke with were happy and content with the care being received.

  • From observations, Laburnum Lodge, Clearview and Inglenook House appear to have the residents’ best interests at the heart of everything.

Summarised Key Recommendations

No specific recommendations have been identified. Based on observations during the visit, the homes appear to provide an extremely positive and supportive environment for residents. They may provide very useful examples of good practice for other services as they seem to exemplify what ‘good’ looks like in creating an environment that truly feels like home for residents.
